Sermon: Taking Control of Your Thoughts
How many of you have conversations with yourselves? Sometimes it is as if you have a whole committee in your head and no one was invited or was even elected, they just showed up and started having meetings.
This Sunday I will talk about one of the most powerful things God has given us and one of the most dangerous things we own, our minds. Taking control of our thoughts isn't about positive thinking—it's about Christ-centered thinking. We don't renew our minds by sheer willpower; we do it by allowing the Holy Spirit to reshape us through God's Word. God isn't interested in merely improving your thinking. He wants to renew it. That means changing the way we see ourselves. Changing the way we see others. Changing the way we see God. The Gospel begins with a renewed mind.
