Sermon: The Day Before Palm Sunday
This Sunday is Palm Sunday. In our sermon for Sunday we'll look at the significance of that special day. But we will also focus on what happened the day before and the night before. For Jesus, what happened then was perhaps even more meaningful than the crowds and the palms and the shouts of Hosanna.

Discussion Questions
- Put into our monetary values today, Mary took a bottle of perfume worth $37,000 and pours it on Jesus’ feet as an act of worship and (from Jesus’ perspective) as preparation for his burial. Mary must have felt God prompting her to do this extravagant act. She took a huge risk and obeyed God, even at the cost of looking extremely foolish in the eyes of all those present.
A) When have you sensed God prompting you to do something out of the ordinary?
B) Do you have any success stories of God using you as you stepped out of your comfort zone?
C) How about times you’ve failed to do what God was prompting and wished you’d had afterwards? What were the results? - One of the passages in the Old Testament that Jesus fulfills as he rides into Jerusalem is Zeph 3:14-17. Note the three phrases in Zeph 3:17 that describe Jesus the King’s attitude toward you as you welcome him into your life as King and Lord.
-- He takes delight in you (God likes you)
-- He will quiet you with his love (God loves you)
-- He rejoices over you with singing (You make God happy)
Which of these three phrases do you most need to hear today and why?
