Sermon: Showdown
It's six months before Jesus goes to the cross. He is at the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem. He has just said two startling things. Now in our text for Sunday he brings it all together in a way that changes one man's life forever and sets the stage for a dramatic showdown with the religious powers of the day. What is the text? Find out Sunday!

Icebreaker Question
Would you rather be blind or deaf (and why)?
Discussion Questions
- Our passage shows three responses to Jesus: Religious Pride, Fearful Neutrality, Humble Faith. Shows that two of the great obstacles to faith are pride and fear. Where do you find yourself on that spectrum of PRIDE – FEAR – FAITH ?
- Our passage also shows that following Jesus costs something. What has it cost you?
- Perhaps the most important lesson from our passage is that coming to Jesus is nothing short of a miracle. It requires that our spiritual eyes be opened. We need spiritual eyes to embrace Jesus by faith. But in living the Christian life, we also need spiritual eyes to see, to fix our minds our things above, not on earth. How is your spiritual sight? Is it clear? Blurry? Blind? How can your spiritual sight improve?
