Sermon: The Emotions of Jesus
Have you met the Emotional Jesus? Are you ready for an all-feeling Savior in a world that often tells us: "Don't be so emotional!"? On Sunday, Matt Misterek (filling in for Peter) shares a message about the Jesus who was born at a time of rational philosophers and stoics — and turned things upside down.

What did the 18-year-old version of you think that you would be doing now, at your current age?
Discussion Questions
- Is there an emotion that you've always found difficult to express?
- Is there an emotion that you find difficult to imagine that Jesus would express?
- One of the emotions that Matt explored in Sunday's message is Joy. He quoted C.S. Lewis: "All Joy reminds. It is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still about to be." Is that statement relatable to your life? Your faith?
- In the first three Gospels, Jesus is often identified with the emotion of Compassion. In the Gospel of John, it's all about His Love. Do you see any difference between Compassion and Love? Or are they interchangeable?
- Do you see Jesus as "the emotional one" in the Trinity? What emotions, if any, do you associate with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit?
